Fallen Tree by Cathleen

"I was on a Walkabout in the Outback of Australia and I saw this tree. It had fallen, but I saw it was still alive.  Good for you! I thought, hang on. Keep hanging on."
MnemeTherapy uses singing, movement, painting, story-telling and praise to create interaction between both sides of the brain. This Therapy does not cure any type of brain impairment, but for some individuals, dramatic changes take place within a 30 minute session, increasing quality of life for both patient and caregiver.

We have documented case studies of individuals being able to speak after long years of silence; being able to identify and grasp objects presented to them, when before they could not see or identify or grasp them (spatial acuity); having greater mobility, such as being able to get up from a chair, or walk more easily.

These are some of the paintings and stories told about them by people who attend Adult Day Centers or live in a healthcare facility. Our hope is that this program sends an important message to every community:  These people deserve dignity and our respect. The books is not yet closed, there are more pages to write.
The Pecan Grove by Charles

Charles is a stroke victim and didn't speak. He was able to tell us this story through hand gestures and a lot of questions on our part. After the therapy he was able to say "I love you," to his caregivers.

Charles had a pecan grove behind his home growing up. It was a source of income and everybody in the family worked in the grove when the pecans were ripe. Charles remembered lots of fun times harvesting the pecans and shelling them out.
Walking to School by George

This painting reminded George of the path through the woods he and his brothers and sisters had to take when they walked to school every morning.
They had to walk about 4 miles and had to go slow, so the little ones could keep up.

A Day With Father by Geraldine

Geraldine told us a wonderful story of going with her father to upstate New York. It was so different from Queens, where she lived. They would enjoy the scenery and then stop and have a hot dog and a soda for lunch.
